About The American Diabetes Association

December 26th, 2006

The American Diabetes Association was founded in 1940 and is the leading diabetes organization in the US. Right now it is leading programs in all of the 50 states of the Union, plus, it offers information and orientation to hundreds of thousands of Americans. Last year alone, 350,000 Americans phoned the Diabetes Association call center asking for information. This, and a lot more, is done each year by the Diabetes Association, helping millions of suffering Americans.

What Do They Do?

The mission of the American Diabetes Association is to prevent and cure diabetes. It also looks after the welfare of the people who suffer from it and tries to improve their quality of life. In order to reach its objectives, this organization funds research programs focused on the eradication of diabetes. Additionally, it uses its money for providing information to the general public, their members, and professionals of any industry.

Considering that diabetes is the sixth leading cause of death in the US, it makes sense that the Diabetes Association covers such a wide spectrum of responsibilities. And they are very careful about it. They have a separate entity that controls the use of the funds and publishes an annual report that informs members of developments in the last year and how much money it cost.
